The Consecration of The Court of King Alfred the Great No.79 on Friday 27th April 2012

Over sixty Brethren were present to witness the consecration of the fifth Court in the Province and the first in Hampshire. In addition to the R W Provincial Grand Master and his team of Provincial Officers, the occasion was graced with the presence of the R W Assistant Grand Master, Alan Baverstock, GHCh.,GCSM together with 2 Provincial Grand Masters, several Active Grand Officers and Brethren from nearby Provinces. This was an especially important day, as it marked the birth of a Court in the City of Winchester which has such a direct historic connection with this Order. The day started very early for many who made long journeys to be present in the morning when many of the Founders were instructed into the Order. After a very enjoyable lunch, the new Court was Consecrated in fine style. During the Consecration an oration written by W Bro Derek Oliver was delivered which touched on his personal association with the City as well as the life and times of King Alfred. Subsequently W Bro Charles Aspinell was installed as the primus Master, and thereafter appointed and installed the Officers of the Court. All departed with happy memories of wonderful day in Winchester. The Province welcomes The Court of King Alfred the Great No.79 and its members into the family.

The Court of Prince Edmund raised over £200 for Comic Relief at their meeting on Friday 13th March.
